The expanded collections launch next week, with the first collections on Monday 28 June and Bright Blue Bags still being delivered.
This Saturday (26 June) several thousand households are scheduled to have an extra rubbish collection – if you are included, this is made clear in the calendars provided and you should present your rubbish this Saturday before 7am.

Welcome to the third South Somerset Recycle More Messenger. We appreciate your help in raising awareness of this important new service which launches at the end of the month and helps protect the environment and tackle climate change.
Just to let you know that our coverage checker is now live and I am writing to all parish councils in our coverage area so that you can inform people who live locally that they can now check to see if their property or business is eligible for a free full fibre installation.
As of today, you can find our coverage checker on our website. You will be able to enter your property details to see if you are included in our latest programme to bring full fibre broadband to rural parts of South Somerset. This is part of our Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) contract that we were awarded at the end of last year.
Last month, we “broke ground” in the Woolston area which marked the start of work on this 3 year public funded programme which is due for completion in 2024. Over this time, we will connect ultrafast broadband to thousands of homes and businesses on an area by area approach. The new map on our website has details of each of these areas, along with key dates.
You can find all of this on our website, where you can also register your interest. Once you have done this, there is nothing else you need to do right now – we will be in touch.
We always work closely with local communities, so if you are interested in becoming a representative or a community champion in your particular area then please let me know.
We hope that the FAQs on the website are helpful, but if you do have a specific question please let me know and I will be more than happy to help.
